Life in Bali is very much influenced by Tri Hita Karana and also nature. Nyepi day is one day when people in Bali apply this wonderful concept of life. Nyepi is also referred as silent day by a lot of people and there is a reason why this is called silent day. It is because during Nyepi, Bali will be very quiet almost like no one is actually lives there.
Nyepi is something done in Hindu’s New Year and it is meant to renew everything in welcoming the New Year. Within this one particular day, the people of Bali are prohibited from doing several things those they usually do in the other days:
- Amati Karya means that in Nyepi day, people are not allowed to go to work and the older people are even avoid the house tasks such as washing.
- Amati Geni means that there will be no sources of light allowed and that include the electrical lamps or the traditional ones such as fire. The electronic devices such as television, radio and others are not allowed to be on as well.
- Amati Lelanguan means that no one is allowed to have fun from things like playing various games in various devices or maybe listening radio or watch the television.
- Amati Lelungan means that no one is allowed to get out of their houses.
